Microsoft’s Live.com is launching a preview version of a new service called Street-Side today (link will be live around 12 PST today). Street-Side will augment the Live Local service and give street level views of the entire city. Searches can be made by address or business name, and you can “drive” around the city using the arrow keys. See the screen shot below for a visual.

Net、XAML、Avalon。

根据Garth Wolfendale(现任微软咨询服务的高级顾问及企业架构师)回忆,70年代他在DEC工作时,daily build流程已经在David Cutler领导的VMS项目组里面初露端倪了("The base-level /frequent/regular/daily build process evolution took root during development of VMS, with Dave Cutler heading the project")。

I have spent the day thinking of ways budding entrepreneurs can use SSE to improve the way we use the web. I am sure a lot of additional web services will be released with this new proposal and its up to the business types and creative programmers to come up with these new applications. Some of the applications I have dreamed up addressing how SSE will change the way we use the web are listed below:

Ajax, or Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is the technology underlying Google Maps, GMail, Microsoft's own MSN.com and Hotmail, and other highly responsive applications on the Web. It's a conglomeration of technologies that cover everything from presentation and object modeling to data interchange and retrieval. Microsoft thinks Ajax apps are too hard to build, and the company's Web platform team is trying to demystify Ajax with the development of an easier-to-use Ajax-style programming technology code-named "Atlas" that it's planning to bring to market during the first half of 2006. A prototype of the technology is available here.) InformationWeek's Tony Kontzer recently caught up with Brian Goldfarb, Microsoft's product manager overseeing the development of Atlas. An edited version of the E-mail interview follows.
